[37]***One of the first MegaDrive/Genesis games. It's very similar to the original 'Space Harrier'. No new elements, only some new enemies and bosses. Rather unoriginal if you ask me. It's playable and the graphics are fast enough though.***Fantasyland has been taken over by destructive forces, and a call for help comes from deep in the universe. Space Harrier is quick on the scene, armed with his laser, to defeat wave after wave of destructive forces through 12 thrilling stages, with a dangerous boss waiting at the end of each round.

Perhaps they added the 'Super' to diffentiate it from the 'Master System' version. And this game is hardly 'super'. Play controls are horrible. The second level (caves) is nearly unplayable. The sound is also below average, even for one of the first games on the MegaDrive. And the graphics were also not the best, especially when compared to similar games like 'Space Harrier 2', which had much faster graphics.***In this follow-up to Thunder Blade, you'll fly a new and improved attack helicopter in a series of attacks against guerilla armies that are bent on taking over the world. Although your aircraft is formidable, your enemies are vast and varied. You'll have to take on submarines, tanks, fighter planes and more. Your command of this state-of-the-art battle copter must be top notch, as you'll have to dodge oncoming fire and use your various weapons to eliminate all enemy targets so you can reach the guerilla base and end their nefarious plans once and for all. Put on your flight suit and step into the thrilling action of Super Thunder Blade.

6 de 10***One of the first games for the MegaDrive and the pack-in game which came with the first MegaDrive/Genesis versions. A decent arcade port with a problem. The arcade version itself wasn't very good. The game is too short and too slow. The graphics were very nice for its time but nowadays the bad gameplay becomes more obvious. Some call this game a classic, and they are right because this game has a certain significance when it comes to the history of the MegaDrive/Genesis. But calling this game a classic because of its gameplay would be doubtful.***Also included in Classic Collection (aka Mega Games 4-in-1), released in Europe in 1996 and published by Sega, rated ELSPA-3, that included [game=#9802]Flicky[/game], [game=#9845]Gunstar Heroes[/game], [game=#9535]Altered Beast[/game] and [game=#9530]Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle[/game].***When Zeus, the legendary Greek God, brings you back to life, you set forth on a mission to rescue his daughter Athena from the underworld. Along the way, collect the Spirit Balls dropped by enemies to increase your strength and transform into a variety of mythical creatures with powerful attacks.***Growwwwlllll!

Osomatsu-kun: Hachamecha Gekijou  Sega1988An early standard platformer based upon some anime series for the MegaDrive. It is playable to a certain degree but never reaches the high standards of games like 'Super Mario Bros.'
What disturbed me most was the fact that the levels themselves were built up like mazes. You had to fall down certain holes to get to an underground cave where you had to choose between different ways - all with landing at the beginning of the level again. It had only 3 rather short levels. Perhaps thats the reason why they made finding the correct path to the exit so inconvenient.***Reviewed as "Osmatutsjin".

[27]***Also included in Classic Collection (aka Mega Games 4-in-1), released in Europe in 1996 and published by Sega, rated ELSPA-3, that included [game=#9802]Flicky[/game], [game=#9845]Gunstar Heroes[/game], [game=#9535]Altered Beast[/game] and [game=#9530]Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle[/game].***Similar to 'Alex Kidd in Miracle World' with many of its elements making a reappearance (helicopter, swimming, motorbike and even the last level). The game is quite good, but I didn't like the 'Rock, Paper, Scissors' game because it is too much based on luck. The overall difficulty level isn't very high though and the game is rather short.***When King Thor was kidnapped, his son, Alex Kidd, held out hope that his father would return to their kingdom on Planet Aries. Finally, it was revealed that he was being held captive on Planet Paperock. As Alex, players race to his rescue through 11 levels, battling enemies and avoiding obstacles while winning coins that will buy special items and vehicles. At the end of each level, players encounter a boss and enter into a match of "Rock, Paper, Scissors." Throwing the right symbols puts players ever closer to bringing King Thor home; throwing the wrong symbols squashes them beneath a heavy weight.***Alex Kidd was quite popular on the Master System, so it was just a matter of time until we could play a Mega Drive Version.
And here it is, a new Alex Kidd Game. First of all you see the nice graphics, which are close to the Original but use the power of the Mega Drive in Terms of Sprite Size, Animations and overall presentation.

The Game itself isn't that great, the changed to much from the classic and messed up a fine game.

The Janken Game is now everywhere, the Bosses don't follow a system, the Controls aren't so great either and the Song Remixes don't fit.

Fans of the Master System Classic will be dissapointed, everybody else who wants a good little Plattformer will propably like it.

[27]***This game is one of the few early "Mega Drive" games that surprisingly didn't lose much of its appeal over the time. The flawless controls and atmospheric, spooky setting make this a fun game to play, even today. The graphics are impressive for an early Mega Drive title, although they are not quite as good as the arcade original. The music fits the setting. There are some points on the negative side though. The game - although featering very varied levels - is rather short. Maybe that is the reason why the difficulty level is so high. There is a "Practice" mode in the Mega Drive version, but it still stays a very challenging and unforgiving game. And to finally encounter the last boss you have to play twice through the whole game, because after the first run a goddess sends you home to grab some magic weapon and you have to begin from level 1, which I found double frustrating. Nevertheless a memorable and overall well done game.***Ghouls'n Ghosts is the sequel to the popular action game Ghosts'n Goblins, originally released in the arcades and later ported to the Genesis. One full-moon night, three years after the battle with Astaroth, a ray of light shoots through Princess Prin Prin, and her soul is stolen right in front of Arthur's eyes. To save his bride's soul, Arthur the knight must battle all manner of evil undead creatures with a variety of weapons, powerful magic and new actions.

Forgotten Worlds  Sega1989A good but not outstanding shooter. It takes a few minutes to get used to the 360° controls of your weapon until you are really in control of your shots. The controls always stay a bit tricky though and sometimes its hard to find the right angle instantly, which can have fatal results, because there is lots of action on-screen. Graphics are well done. There are a few slowdowns that can occur when the screen is overloaded with enemies and projectiles. The music is not that much of a hit, but that's a matter of taste. The Mega Drive version only features seven of the nine original arcade levels. Nicest feature of the game is the two-player simultaneous mode, which is really fun and makes the game much easier.***

[52]***FORGOTTEN WORLDS is a one- or two-player side-scrolling shooter made by CAPCOM. It was one of the first games to incorporate 360-degree aiming and shooting. This SEGA GENESIS version provides the same impact and intensity of the classic arcade game. In the 29th century, without warning, warships broke through the sky, loaded with fiendish aliens. They rained down fire, bombs, missiles and napalm, leaving the land barren and inhospitable. Humanity was enslaved and Earth became known as the Forgotten World. In a hidden place, a group of brave humans raised two male children in secret. They brought up the young men as warriors, training them for battle. The two warriors emerged as armed machines of might, strength and super power – the Nameless Ones. Fight the hateful invaders as the powerful Nameless Ones. [27]***Nice early MegaDrive action game with impressive graphics and good music for its time. Playability and controls are ok and the player remains motivated to see all of the eight levels. In the Japanese version the hero is dressed differently as in the western versions and looks more like a fragile magician in his long robes, while he appears more figher-like in the western versions. The story is a weak point in the game, being just a "Rescue the girl and save the world" story with no developing story ingame. The Japanese version seems to have more story, at least they have a slightly longer intro scene and the game is based on a manga series.

A team of three Alpha-type robot spaceships was sent to the nearest neighboring system to seek out new sources, mine them, and send the scarce materials back to Earth.
One day, while the team was investigating the planet called Voltegeus, it suddenly ceased to transmit and could not be contacted. Many years passed without a sign, and the ships were given up for lost. Then, Earth Defense Headquarters received word from Pluto Base of a huge unidentified object approching our system. An infra-scan probe revealed the three Alpha ships at its core. In the hands of a hostile alien intelligence, the ships had been transformed into a gigantic, heavily-armed, flying fortress - bent on destroying Earth!
The defenses of Earth have all failed to halt the juggernaut of destruction, and it now threatens to obliterate the planet. [33]***They're gonna bug ya... to DEATH! Compared to these guys, killer bees are about as scary as a butterfly. In this awesome insect Empire you've got to be a fast gun! No can of bug spray will help you here. These giant mechanized insects mean business. Become too enthralled with the beautiful landscape and your daydreams could become a nightmare! Become... Insector X! A moment's delay could be your last!!***This is the poor cousin of Bio-hazard Battle, a side-scrolling shooter with an insectoid motif, a 2D sidescroll shooter with an unimpressive weapons system and uncompelling gameplay.
The visuals aren't too bad, but nothing makes this stand out from the shooter crowd.
